Skye Canyon vs Centennial Hills: Northwest Las Vegas Compared

Comparing Skye Canyon and Centennial Hills in northwest Las Vegas — home styles, new construction, outdoor access, and commutes.

Northwest Las Vegas is where a lot of relocating buyers find more space and a quieter pace. Two names come up most: Skye Canyon and Centennial Hills. They're neighbors, but they feel different.

Skye Canyon: newer and master-planned

Skye Canyon is a newer master-planned community on the valley's far northwest edge. Expect newer construction, a large community park, a fitness center, trails, and mountain views. It's one of the closest communities to Mt. Charleston, which is roughly half an hour up the road.

Centennial Hills: established, with more variety

Centennial Hills is a broader area with a mix of established neighborhoods and some larger lots. Everyday shopping is close by around Centennial Center, and Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs and Tule Springs Fossil Beds are nearby for weekends outside.

How they compare

  • Home age: Skye Canyon skews newer; Centennial Hills has more resale variety.
  • Lot sizes: Centennial Hills is where you're more likely to find larger lots.
  • HOAs: Skye Canyon has a master association; Centennial Hills varies by neighborhood — some have none.
  • Commute: both connect to US-95 and the 215 beltway. The Strip is farther from here than from the southwest or Henderson, so drive your commute route before deciding.
